This certificate provides exposure to the investigative techniques used by accountants to conduct forensic examinations as well as the common schemes and techniques used to commit fraud. The skills acquired will enable students to assist businesses in detecting, investigating, documenting, and preventing fraud.

Graduates should be able to understand both the pervasiveness and the causes of fraud and white-collar crime in our society, examine the types of fraud and fraud schemes that affect business enterprises, explore methods of fraud detection and prevention, and increase their ability to recognize potential fraudulent situations.

The certificate helps to prepare students determine the probability and/or extent of the occurrence of fraud. By analyzing definite financial and non-financial information, checking public records, and administering fact-finding and admission-seeking questioning and evaluation, suspicions or accusations will be resolved and refuted.
